Pterocarpus Marsupium for the Treatment of Diabetes and Other Disorders- Juniper Publishers

Juniper Publishers- Journal of complementary medicine Abstract Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb., is a deciduous tree commonly grows in India and Sri Lanka. It is well known to Ayurvedic medicine because of its curative and lenitive properties. The heartwood extract of P. marsupium is reported to have many pharmacological compounds and used in treatment of various disorders. Literature was collected via electronic search (PubMed, ScienceDirect) from published articles that reports medicinal properties of P. marsupium. A significant research of antidiabetic activities and other medicinal properties of P. marsupium combined with bioactive compounds isolated from the plant will provide leads for the discovery of new drugs for the management of many disorders with minimal side effects. Juniper Publishers- Journal of complementary medicine Abstract Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by infection with leptospira species which is prevalent in both tropical and temperate regions, but more common in tropics as the pathogenic bacteria survives longer in tropical environment. Leptospira species lives in kidneys of mammalian species like rodents, cattle, sheep and pig but rodents are the most common reservoir in transmission of the disease. Humans are infected incidentally after being exposed to infected animal tissue or excreta. A 47-year-old female patient admitted in our hospital in general medicine ward with chief complaints of fever for 5 days, cough for 4 days and altered sensorium for 2 days. Patient also complained about headache and involuntary passage of urine in clothes on the day of admission. Patient was a known case of asthma on oral treatment of FORACORT inhaler. Burnout has been linked to medical errors and decreases in performance. Increasingly over the past two decades, health professional schools are implementing mindfulness-based stress reduction courses. Since 2010, the University of Washington has offered an inter-professional mind-body skills course to graduate students in the health professions.
